Dolly Qianyu Wu moves through the world as an artist, designer, writer, and filmmaker — between mediums, moments, and identities, forever in flux.

Her practice spans various design, performance, dining ritual, textile exploration, installation, filmmaking, and storytelling, weaving together the tangible and the ephemeral, the intimate and the collective. At its core lies a search for the delicate balance between stillness and movement, as well as for the unseen threads that connect human beings and the living world.

Educated within a traditional system in China, she was first trained in realist drawing and graphic design — disciplines that sharpened her eye and grounded her in craft. As a child, her parents took her traveling across places and cultures, planting in her a quiet certainty that the world and art held endless possibilities. Guided by this instinctive pull, she chose to step away from the life and educational framework she had always known, moving beyond the screen and canvas to explore the sensorial, the interactive, and the participatory dimensions of experience.

Her works create spaces for reflection and encounter, asking: What truly matters in this era? What lies beyond the architectures of social media? How can we safeguard vulnerability while cultivating closeness?

Born in China and now based in the Netherlands, she continues her studies at Design Academy Eindhoven, carrying with her a restless curiosity and an openness to transformation.
